On September 25, Centre Wellington District High School will proudly fly the Franco-Ontarian flag in recognition of Franco-Ontarian Day.

Franco-Ontarian Day is an opportunity to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Ontario’s Francophone community. More than 650,000 Francophones live in Ontario, alongside approximately 1.5 million Ontarians who speak French. Ontario is home to Canada’s largest Francophone community outside Quebec.

September 25 also marks the anniversary of the first raising of the Franco-Ontarian flag, which took place at the University of Sudbury in 1975. The flag was officially recognized as the symbol of Ontario’s Francophone community in 2001, and Franco-Ontarian Day was formally established in 2010.

At CW, we are proud to recognize and celebrate the many languages, cultures, histories, and identities that contribute to our school community. We are especially pleased to celebrate our French Falcons and the important role they play in our school and community.
