Hello Arbour Vista families,

Happy Tuesday! We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing and joyful Thanksgiving weekend.

As we settle into the fall season, the changing temperatures can make it tricky to dress appropriately each day. Layering is a great way to help your child stay comfortable throughout the day. We kindly ask that you label your child’s clothing, as items like sweaters and sweatshirts are often removed and can easily be misplaced.

PA Day October 24, 2025

Community Input on Name for New Guelph High School

The UGDSB’s new high school in South Guelph is set to open up in less than a year, and we are asking for community input on the new school’s name! The new school will open in the 2026-27 school year and is located at Arkell Road and Victoria Road South in Guelph. This is a huge milestone, as it will be the first new UG high school to open in Guelph in nearly 60 years! From October 11-24, 2025, students, staff, families and community members can submit proposed names through an anonymous online survey. Learn more here.

Parents of students in Grade 4 and above

From October 20th to November 21st, the Upper Grand District School Board is collecting information on student health and well-being from youth, parents and school staff. The Well-Being and Health Youth Surveys are designed to help us understand how well we are doing creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments in our schools. It also provides important information about the physical and mental health of youth in our area.

Please review this letter for more detailed information.

We had a great turn out to our first school council meeting. Thank you to those who came out and volunteered to fill some of the available positions. We appreciate Ivana MacIntoch for volunteering her time to chair the School Council.

As a reminder, any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the month.

Spirit Wear

Our spirit wear collection is now available for purchase on Cash Online from October 14-28.

From hoodies to t-shirts, there’s something for everyone. Whether you wear it on spirit days, to school events, or just around town, let’s show everyone what it means to be part of the Vipers!

Halloween

Our school celebrates Halloween with costume dress-up and/or black and orange. We will ask that parents carefully consider the costumes their children wear to school as they will need to wear them all day. If students choose to wear a costume they should come to school wearing it.   Please have regular clothes available for your child, as they may need to change out of their costumes part way through the day. Class specific activities may be communicated as applicable by your child’s teacher.

If your child(ren) does not participate in Halloween please inform their teacher and there will be alternate activities available.

Have a great week,
