school

Good Morning Arbour Vista families,

Our students have been  having a great time playing in the snow (what is left of it), and we want to help keep all their belongings organized. With so many hats, mittens, and other winter gear coming to school, we kindly ask families to label each item. Clear labels make it much easier for lost clothing to be returned to its owner.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-27 School Year

If you have a child starting kindergarten in September, then it’s time to register them for school! Kindergarten registration takes place from January 6-30, 2026. Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time for both you and your child. We look forward to welcoming our new JKs

School Parking Lot

Thank you for ensuring our students exit their cars away from traffic in the Kiss 'n Ride area.  When crossing from the parking lot please remember to use the crosswalk to safely reach the school. As a reminder, the Kiss 'n Ride is intended for short stops only. Please avoid leaving your vehicles unattended in this area. If you wish to stay longer, feel free to park in a designated spot in the parking lot.

Bus Cancellations & Inclement Weather Pick Up

Bus cancellations are not posted on the school or UGDSB websites. This information comes directly from Wellington-Dufferin Student Transportation Services (STWDSTS). Parents/guardians can sign up for cancellation/delay alerts on the STWDSTS website.

If a bus does not run in the morning, it will not run in the afternoon. Please plan to pick up your child at 2:40 p.m. On inclement weather days, the parking lot is very busy:

  • Use the outside lane (closest to the school) for pick-up and have your child enter on the passenger side.

  • If you are in the inside lane, keep circling until you can move to the outside lane. Stopping in the inside lane blocks traffic and slows the process.

  • Once you have picked up your child, please exit promptly to allow others to pick up.

Snow Hill Safety

Snow from plowing is piled at the back of our parking lot, creating large hills that may look tempting to climb. As a reminder, these mounds are unsafe, especially during dismissal when the lot is busy.

New Guelph High School

Illness Prevention Measures

As we enter the New Year it is a good time for reminders about some of the supports in place to keep students and staff healthy throughout the cold and flu season:

Key Protective Measures:

  • Frequent hand washing, respiratory etiquette and making the most of our outdoor spaces for learning continue to contribute to the health and well-being of students and staff.

  • Classes continue to have a standalone HEPA filter unit

  • Hand sanitizer is available for students, staff and visitors.

  • We continue to support students, staff and visitors in our schools and respect their individual choices about masking.

The UGDSB will continue to follow the direction of WDGPH for appropriate responses to illnesses in our community. Please visit their website for the most current information about respiratory illnesses including COVID-19 on their updated site:

Have a great week.
