Hello Arbour Vista Families,

Winter is well underway, and our school continues to thrive with energy and engagement, even on these snowy days. As we make our way through the season, I hope everyone is keeping safe and warm. This week’s email includes several important updates and upcoming events, so please take a moment to review the information below.

Primary Math Night- Save the Date

School Council is excited to host Math Night for our Primary students (JK–Grade 3) on Tuesday, February 10, from 6:00–7:00 p.m.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help make this event a success. Support is needed for event set-up and to serve as station helpers throughout the evening.

Math Night is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community, support student learning, and showcase our school spirit. We hope you will consider donating your time to help create a fun and memorable experience for our students and families.

If you are able to assist, please complete the Google Form provided.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Holocaust Presentation

We are pleased to inform you that on January 28th our school will host a special guest presenter David Kaufman. David will deliver an engaging, age-appropriate presentation to our Grade 6, 7 and 8 students, sharing his family’s history during the Holocaust and its lasting lessons.

Kindergarten Registration

Is my child eligible to go to school the upcoming 2026-2027 school year?

  • Children who were born in 2022 may attend Junior Kindergarten (JK).

  • If your child is currently attending JK in the Upper Grand District School Board, you do not have to re-register for SK.

The kindergarten registration window for both English and French Immersion opens January 6th, 2026. The Registration window for French Immersion (only) closes on January 30st at 4:00 pm.

PA Day January 30th, 2026

There will be no school for students on Friday January 30th. This day is a professional activity day for staff. The Ministry requires that school boards post and distribute detailed outlines for each Professional Activity (PA) Day. Please find the outline attached here to satisfy these requirements. It has also been posted on the board website and in our front foyer. January 30th, 2026 PA Day Poster - Elementary Panel

After School Property Use

Please be advised that our school property is in use for the After School Program until 6:00 PM on weeknights. During this time, we kindly ask that you refrain from walking pets, riding scooters, or engaging in other recreational activities on school grounds to ensure the safety of all participants.

Drop off in the morning

Thank you for using the kiss and ride to drop off your children. When students exit the cars, please encourage them to step up over the little snow mound before getting on their backpacks or adjusting their winter gear. If students are late, families should park in the parking lot or use the kiss and ride. Cars should not be stopping in the bus lane.

Board Scent Policy

Please be aware that some people in our schools and/or board-owned sites are extremely sensitive to scented products such as perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, body sprays, air fresheners, essential oils, pot-pourri, etc. The presence of these products can adversely affect a person’s health, including life threatening reactions. Please remind your children not to wear or use these products at any time in schools and/or board-owned sites.

Have a great week,
