We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back and meeting our new students. It's always exciting to start a fresh school year together!
Please be aware that the first day of school will be busy, and parking will be very limited. To help reduce congestion and keep things running smoothly, we encourage families to avoid driving if possible. If your child is eligible, please consider having them take the school bus or walk.
For safety reasons, vehicles cannot be left in the Kiss and Ride area. This space is for quick drop-offs only, and stopping or parking there creates safety risks for students and staff.
Please see the procedures for students once they arrive at school below.
First Day Procedures
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8. Students are encouraged to arrive approximately 15 minutes before the start of the school day.
The school yard can be quite busy on the first day, and we want to assure families that many staff members will be available to support students as they arrive. Staff will be wearing brightly coloured, highly visible vests and will be stationed throughout the yard to help students find their way. Staff located at the entrance to the tarmac will have class lists available and can assist students in locating their teacher.
Families should/or will receive an email from the Board with their child's homeroom placement information. If you have not received this email, please do not worry. Staff members will be available throughout the school yard to assist families and ensure that all students are directed to the correct class. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school!
We ask that you arrive at the school between 8:05 and 8:20. If it is raining, students are advised to dress for the weather and bring an umbrella. If you have plans of care and/or medication, please drop them off at the office once you have dropped off your child. If you require a plan of care, let the office know.
Grade 1-8
Students in Grades 1-8 will meet behind the school. Students in Grades 1-6 should proceed to the hardtop, while students in Grades 7-8 should gather on the field. Grade number signs (Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, etc.) will be posted in the appropriate areas. Students should go to their grade sign, where teachers will be holding signs displaying their names and homeroom designations. Staff will be available throughout the yard to help students find their teacher and class.
In case of heavy rain, GR 1-6 students will enter the exterior gymnasium door where their teachers will meet them. Intermediate students will enter through the intermediate doors and will be directed to the library. We ask that parents use the regular drop off protocol (please park in the parking lot if you are going to walk your child to the front door. Please use the kiss n’ ride if you are going to drop off your child). Please note parents will not be permitted past the front foyer, in order to adhere to fire code regulations.
Kindergarten Students
Kindergarten students should proceed directly to the Kindergarten yard at the back of the school, where they will be greeted by their teacher and Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and welcomed into their classroom.
We will have many staff members available to support our youngest learners as they begin the school year.
In the event of heavy rain, Kindergarten students will enter through their regular Kindergarten door, where staff will greet them and escort them to their classrooms.
Please note that parents and guardians will not be permitted in the fenced Kindergarten yard or Kindergarten hallway.
