Hello Arbour Vista Families,
Our School Council has also been busy organizing some special events to engage the community. If you would like to be part of their committees, come and join our Council Meeting on Tuesday evening. The link and agenda are posted on our website under the “School Council” heading.
Faith Days During February
Acknowledging and celebrating days of faith is an important aspect of many religious traditions and cultures. Different faiths have their own holy days, festivals, and observances that hold significance for their followers. During the month of February, please see the days that will be acknowledged and celebrated by some members of our school community. Please note that there is diversity within faith communities and that no one list can represent all faith traditions or observances.
Date | Celebration | Faith/Religion |
January 29 | Chinese New Year/ Lunar New Year | Buddhism/Confucian/Taoism |
February 1 | Imbolc-Lughnasadh* | Wiccan/Neo-Pagan |
February 2 | Vasant Panchami | Hinduism |
February 12 | Magha Puja Day | Buddhism |
February 13-14 | Laylat al-Bara'ah* | Islam |
February 15 | Parinirvana Day | Buddhism |
February 25-28 | Ayyám-i-Há (Intercalary Days) | Bahá’í |
*Please note that we acknowledge February as Black Heritage, Black Brilliance & Black Futures Month and School Crossing Guard Appreciation Month. During the Month of February we acknowledge and share information with students about Valentine's Day, National Flag Day, Family Day, Pink Shirt day (Canada), and National Flag day and other significant dates. It is not included in this chart because it is not a day of faith/religious holiday.
Prayer Space Available
We would like to remind families that a prayer space is available for use during the school day. If your child would like access to the space, please ensure they communicate with their teacher so that we can ensure proper supervision.
Message from School Council
Math Night Volunteers Needed
Dear Parents,
We’re looking for a few volunteers to help make our Primary Math night (February 11th from 6:00pm-7:00pm) a success!
SET-UP: We need 3 volunteers to assist with set-up from 3:00-3:30 PM. This will involve setting up tables and stations, so if you have some time to spare that afternoon, we’d greatly appreciate your help!
STATION HELPERS: We’re also looking for more parent volunteers to help run Math Night. The time commitment would be from 5:30-7:30 PM. The commitment would include helping with the tear-down at the end of the night and assisting with one of the stations. Don’t worry—everything will be set up for you ahead of time!
These events are a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and show our school spirit. We hope you’ll consider donating your time to help create a memorable experience for everyone.
If you’re able to help, please fill out the Google form provided.

Cyber Safety Presentation
Members of the Crime Stoppers-Guelph Wellington will be visiting with Grade 6-8 on February 26, 2025. This presentation is to replace the presentation cancelled on January 16, 2025. The Crime Stoppers Cyber Safety presentation was developed following a discussion with local Upper Grand District School Board and Wellington Catholic District School Board regarding the increase in online threats directed at youth. This presentation will use age-appropriate messaging and will help students understand the importance of staying safe, while understanding how online interaction can lead to more dangerous realities.
