EJPS Week at a Glance (June 23 - 27)

Chers parents,

I want to start by thanking all of our staff and students for keeping cool heads during a very hot and humid time. Next week is our last week of school! Where has the time gone? I’ve heard that our Grade 6’s are having a fantastic time at camp today! Thank you to Mme Roberts, Mme Hill and our parent chaperones for making camp possible. This coming week we will be having various classroom and divisional celebrations and a Year End Assembly/Spirit Day (Colours of the Rainbow) on Wednesday, June 25th at 9:20 AM. Parents are welcome to join us in the gym. That afternoon, we will hold a PRIDE & Inclusion Art Activity Celebration on the tarmac at 1:10 PM. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favourite combination of colours to symbolize our unity in diversity! Term 2 report cards will also be available online as of June 24th.

Some Thank Yous & Goodbyes to express before year’s end:

In today’s world, the partnership between parents and teachers has never been more important and the staff at EJPS cannot express enough gratitude for the daily support and the much needed volunteering we receive from EJPS parents and caregivers. Thanks to our School Council as well. Throughout this year you continued to support our students by offering nutrition options, raising funds for trips, chromebooks, musical instruments, sports equipment, and our playground. Thank you to our Council Chair, Natasha Papadedes, and the executive team for inspiring our parents and staff and for ensuring our students have as many opportunities and enhancements to school life as possible.

Now for the Staff at EJPS. First, a GIANT thank you to all those who helped as our lunch hour supervisors. Mme Brown and Mme Holly will continue on with us next year and we thank them for their fun and smiley ways. Also, thank you to our bus drivers, crossing guards and caretaker Mr. Sweeney who keeps us learning, safe, and healthy. Thank you, to our EAs, Mme Dokis and Mme Fudger and our CYC, Mme Topping who have been rocks to many and ensure that everyone’s day goes smoothly. What would we do without Mme McLeod? Her helpfulness, patience and attention to detail is second to none. Last, I want to say that there is no teaching staff as committed to children as we have at EJPS. I am so proud of the hard work our teachers have undertaken this year.

We also want to wish our Grade 6 Graduates all the best in middle school. You were an outstanding group of leaders and were excellent role models by always “Working Hard, Being Nice and Staying Safe”. And best wishes to any of our families who are moving to other neighbourhoods, towns or cities. You will be missed.

We also wish the best to some of our incredible staff who are moving on to new schools. Thank you to LTO Mlle Evans who swept in and saved the day this year with such grace and kindness. Mme Stewart, thank you for making primary planning an exciting time as well as coaching the basketball and ultimate frisbee teams! Mme Bauman thank you for filling in several ECE roles this year and being so dedicated to your students. Next, Mme Liva, I know how much your students and parents appreciated your super skills and caring ways with the KC class this year. A big note of appreciation to Mme Cigljarev for her high energy and attention to detail with 2\3 class and her leadership with the Willy Wonka musical. Last but not least, we appreciate Mme Patrick’s contributions to EJPS over the years and in many roles. Her wisdom, chess and puppeteer skills will be missed! We wish all those staff leaving us the best at their new schools next year.

YEAR END REMINDERS:

Medication

The school office has stored your student’s medication (epi pen, inhaler, pain med, etc.) for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a reminder that we cannot store medication over the summer. Please make arrangements to pick up your student's medication from the school no later than Thursday, June 27th. If you require the school to store meds for the 2024-2025 school year, they can be dropped off in September with the appropriate form/Plan of Care: https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/policy/policy-518-students-with-life-threatening-medical-conditions/

Please note: if there is no change with the current Plan of Care, you may complete and return the "Annual Renewal" form. If you have any questions, please call us: 519-763-7374.

Food programs

Please note there will not be any food programs during the last week of school. Thank you to our School Council for running these programs which help to raise funds and lighten parents’ lunch making workload! Please pack 1-2 extra items of food in your student's lunch.
