HHES reads #1

Hyland Heights READS is celebrating its 20th Anniversary!!!  This wonderful literacy initiative exposes students and staff of all ages to the rich text and illustrations of 5 very special picture books.  During the month of November, classes will be reading, discussing, comparing and contrasting these books, and eventually everyone will vote for their own favourite book.  Grade 5 students will be responsible for running the voting polls and we are looking forward to a celebration assembly, during which the winning book will be read to the whole school.  Congratulations HH READS on this incredible milestone!

Since this year is the 20th anniversary of HH READS, we decided to do something a little different.  Instead of choosing 5 new books, the selection committee decided to re-examine the winners from the past 19 years and choose 5 nominees from these books.  This year, our school community will be determining the all-time favourite HH READS book!

The first nominee is Exclamation Mark by Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Tom Lichtenheld.  This book won HH READS back in 2014.  Will it have what it takes to win this year?

Keep reading our news articles to find out what other books are nominated and which book will claim the all-time favourite title!
