This week, the Upper Grand District School Board marks the beginning of Pride Month. As we enter this meaningful month, we are reminded that creating truly inclusive, supportive, and safe environments for our students and staff is a commitment we renew every single day.
Throughout June, and every month of the year, the UGDSB honours the vibrant contributions that 2SLGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families bring to our communities. Every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, deserves to feel seen, valued, and safe enough to thrive in the UG community.
One way that we are showing our solidarity is flying the Pride Flag at every school and workplace across the board. However, real inclusion goes far deeper than symbols.
This month, many of our schools are hosting a dynamic range of events, learning opportunities, and celebrations designed to recognize the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and sharing age-appropriate learning designed to create dialogue and growth. Our schools and offices will also continue our collective responsibility to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
More information and resources for students can be found on the board website: 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusion in the UGDSB
Let’s work together to make UGDSB schools and offices places where belonging isn’t just an ideal, but a daily reality.
Wishing you all a joyful, safe, and inspiring Pride Month.
