As we look ahead to the first day of school on September 8, 2026, we would like to provide an update regarding student class placements. This year, the Upper Grand District School Board will be sending class placement information centrally to all families across the UGDSB on Friday, September 4, 2026. Please see this sample email that will give you an idea of what the central email will look like.

In order to help inform future planning we welcome your feedback around this process. To provide feedback, please click the following link.

On September 8th, 2026, students should proceed to the back of the school and line up by their teacher's sign and grade.

An information booth will be located in the Maple Bush area at the back of the school. Staff members will be available to answer questions and assist families as needed.

Kindergarten students should proceed directly to the Kindergarten yard and line up with their designated educators.

Please refer to the map below for student entry and lineup locations.

Thank you for your understanding regarding class assignments. Please understand that these class placements cannot be changed. Please do not call or email the school to have your child moved.

Staff have spent days developing classes based on a detailed set of criteria, focused on student learning and success. We take this process very seriously and do our best to plan for the success of all of our students.

In this complex process, we take the following into account:

  • learning partners

  • ability groups - learning groups

  • needs of students

  • separating some students due to relationship issues depending on the number of classrooms

  • balance of gender/non-binary

  • behaviour needs/dynamics between students

As in the past, in the middle of September, the Board re-evaluates numbers across the system which may cause a reorganization.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great school year!
