PCPS celebrates mental health week

As we welcome the arrival of May, it is wonderful to see the vibrant energy returning to our school grounds.   Parkinson Centennial is currently buzzing with activity, and both our staff and students are looking forward to an engaging month filled with meaningful learning opportunities and community events.

May 4-8, PCPS will be recognizing Mental Health Week.  Our CYC Bree will be hosting activities, along with staff that promote wellness all throughout the week.  Please see the schedule above.

Thursday’s theme is Belong Together:  Strengthening Connection, and this coincides beautifully with our Community Wellness Event.  Parkinson Centennial families are invited to join the School Council and staff on Thursday, May 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for our Family Wellness Open House.  This evening will focus on strategies and tools we can all use to care for our wellness, including Zumba, art, connecting to nature, mindfulness, and positive affirmations. Community partners will be in attendance to share information and families will be invited to have a picnic in the backyard. Don’t forget to order pizza to picnic by end of day on Tuesday, May 5th!

Playground update:

Unfortunately at this time, our Playground remains closed as a result of our inspection.  We will work with the UGDSB board staff to complete repairs and ensure safe equipment before re-opening.

Save the date:

Words Matter Day - May 20 - PCPS will be recognizing Words Matter Day.   Words Matter Day is an initiative, often celebrated in May or as part of ongoing campaigns, designed to highlight the power of language in fostering respect, empathy, and inclusion in schools and communities. It promotes using positive language to create a chain reaction of kindness while addressing and reducing harmful or discriminatory language
