Dear PCPS Families,
It’s hard to believe we are coming out of our first long weekend of the Summer! We hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend and enjoy some warmer weather.
What an incredible few weeks of learning and engagement at PCPS. Many thanks to the support of our CYC Bree who led many students through activities that promote wellness and good mental health throughout the last week. A big thank you goes out to Ms. Lowe and her team for organizing our Dance-a-thon! Lots of smiles in the gym as everyone moved to the music.
Our Community Wellness event was a huge success and very well attended. It was heartwarming to see so many families join us and tour the wellness activities. We are appreciative of the donation from the Orangeville Dairy Queen who donated Dilly Bars for students to enjoy.
Friday was our appreciation day for Education Support Workers that include our incredible EA and CYC team. We are grateful for their support and everything they do to support students at PCPS.
Playground Update:
Unfortunately at this time, our Playground remains closed as a result of our inspection. The UGDSB has shared the proposal for the repairs needed and we are working with our Parkinson Centennial Public School Council to make a decision about our next steps. If you have any questions or comments about the playground, please reach out and share your feedback with members on the School Council. We will be voting on how to proceed at our next Parent Council meeting in June.
We have had staff working on our new door entry system that will include a new door bell and camera with remote access. Please be patient while we transition to this new system and look for our new signage which help families know how to enter at the front door.
This is just a friendly reminder with the nice weather coming, please remember to call your students in for attendance if they are going to absent OR late. This helps us keep everyone safe and accounted for. Attendance takes a long time for us to complete, and your messages help keep that process streamlined. There's only Mrs. Marnie in the office 4 out of 5 days a week. Please have patience when calling, if we don't answer it's because we are working with or helping other folks. Remember to just leave a message, please don't call repeatedly. The message will be answered as soon as possible.
Ask your child about our Words Matter Day - May 20 - at PCPS. Words Matter Day is an initiative, often celebrated in May or as part of ongoing campaigns, designed to highlight the power of language in fostering respect, empathy, and inclusion in schools and communities. It promotes using positive language to create a chain reaction of kindness while addressing and reducing harmful or discriminatory language
