Good evening Mustang Families,

It was another excellent week here at PMPS! I cannot believe we are in the last few weeks of school. Where did the year go? Teachers are working hard to keep routines in place and ensure consistency, as well as celebrating a school year of hard work. We are not counting down, but rather making the last days count!

Our school completed our annual PMPS Compass Run in support of the Compass Run Church. Did you know that year after year, the Compass Run donates $6,000  to our school’s nutrition program? Our finalists for  the Bike Roadeo will do  a wonderful job representing our school this weekend at the Orangeville wide event. Go Mustangs go! Congratulations to all of our finalists and to Mrs. Mikulik who facilitated our participation. Our intermediates returned from their overnight trip to camp. Many core memories were created and students and staff were very tired from little to no sleep. Thank you to Mrs. Landry, Ms. Lyon, Ms. Mikulik, and Mr. Fendley who all attended and provided this opportunity for our grade ⅞ students.

Did you know that PMPS is fortunate to have a Child and Youth Worker for 4 days a week? One of her duties includes doing presentations with students from kindergarten to grade 8  to ensure that we are being proactive and teaching children effective strategies. Our CYC, Tania completed over 140 presentations this school year about a variety of topics which included: Zones of Regulation, handling big feelings, classroom expectations, being an upstander, perseverance, being a friend, personal space, stealing, fair vs equal, golden rule, bullying, kindness, power of words, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, abuse prevention, mental health and self care, size of the problem, safe hands, end of year changes, and plus guest presenters including  Kids Help Phone, Get Real x2, CMHA, and Family Transition Place. Wow! If you see our CYC, Tania please make sure to say ‘thank you’ for her hard work. This is all while meeting with kids one to one, facilitating drops ins, social groups, lunch bunch and so much more!

📚 Library Book Returns 📚: As we near the end of the school year, the library is getting ready for next year’s adventures! We kindly ask families to help ensure that all library books are returned by June 12th. No new books will be signed out at this time. Thank you for supporting our library and helping us keep our collection organized and ready for September! Warm regards,  Mustang Library Team

Support to Access Digital Report Cards for Parents/Guardians : To support upcoming report cards at the end of June, The Upper Grand District School Board has an online parent portal called Parent ConnectED. Parents/guardians are able to access their children's report cards digitally through this portal. To assist with access and support any technical challenges that families might experience, the UGDSB has created a support website for Parent ConnectED found here: UGDSB Report Card Support. This is also posted on our school website.

Within this website there is support on the following topics:

  • How to create a parent portal account

  • How to access report cards

  • A list of links to schools report card websites

  • The parent-teacher interview booking process

  • Information on 18+ students granting parental access

  • What to do if you forgot your password

Please note report cards for term 2 will be posted online on the 25th of June and a papercopy will also go home on this day.

Preparing for Summer Heat and Air Quality Warnings from WDG Public Health: Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health would like to share heat and air quality resources to support schools, childcare operators, staff and families this summer. Please take a look at the linked document: Preparing for Summer Heat and Air Quality Warnings.

E-Scooters and E-Bikes from the UGDSB: With the warm weather returning, it is wonderful to see more of our students choosing to walk or wheel to and from school. We are sharing the following information regarding e-scooters and e-bikes for awareness.  Please note, e-scooters and e-bikes are not permitted on school property for students under the age of 16. This is in line with Ontario legislation which prohibits the use of e-scooter and e-bikes for youth under 16 years old. E-scooters and e-bikes are not permitted to be stored inside school buildings. Students are welcome to ride standard bikes or scooters to and from school, always wearing a helmet and following road safety rules.Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
