Good evening Mustang Families,
We Are the Champions!
Congratulations once again to our remarkable Bike Rodeo team, who earned first place and won $500 for our school at the Bike Rodeo organized by the Optimist Club of Orangeville at Alder Street.
Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who supported their children at the event, and to our amazing students who gave their very best and demonstrated what it truly means to have Margaret Pride.
A special thank you to Mrs. Mikulik, who played an instrumental role in organizing the Bike Rodeo, supporting over 120 of our students who participated, and guiding our team throughout the process.
We also had an outstanding Play Day last Friday! Thank you to Mrs. Christie, Mrs. Pozniak, and Mrs. Mikulik for organizing such a fantastic event. The weather was perfect, and the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and joy. Our junior and intermediate leaders once again demonstrated excellent leadership and helped make the day a success. It was a wonderful celebration of a year well done, and a reminder of the importance of physical activity and fun for our mental health.
Princess Margaret’s New Pollinator Garden: Thanks to the hard work of Mrs. Christie’s class, we now have a new pollinator garden gracing the front beds at our school! After winning some funding from the Learning for a Sustainable Future Organization, Mrs. Christie‘s class had a friendly competition, where groups of students researched native plants and then designed their ideal pollinator garden. Students school-wide voted on their favourite design and then flowers and bushes were purchased. Special thanks to Mrs. Pozniak’s class, Mrs. Hickey‘s class, Mrs.Mikulik’s class, and Mrs. Christie’s class for contributing in various ways, from digging in the compost to moving mulch to helping plant the flowers. Much gratitude also to the owners of GGG Greenhouses for donating some beautiful zinnias to add a punch of colour! Informational signage is soon to be added. We will continue adding to this garden in years to come! Thanks to Mrs. Ellis for her tremendous leadership regarding our gardens.
We have many exciting events coming up in the next week:
Track and Field (Friday): Congratulations to our team representing us at the County Track and Field Meet. Good luck to all participants—be safe, have fun, run fast, jump long, and throw hard!!
Grade 8 Celebration (Monday): We look forward to celebrating our outstanding Grade 8 class as they prepare to move on to high school. This is truly a special group of graduates. Thank you to our intermediate team for their hard work in making this celebration memorable.
SK Celebration (Tuesday): We will also be celebrating our youngest learners as they take the big step into Grade 1.
Year-End Assembly (Thursday): We will wrap up the week with our traditional year-end assembly. Award winners’ families have already been contacted. To meet fire code requirements, attendance will be limited to staff, students, parent volunteers who have supported us throughout the year, and the families of award recipients. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize safety.
Report Cards and IEPs: Please note that report cards and IEPs (for students who have them) will be coming home on June 25th, 2026. They are also accessible online. Please see directions down below is some help if you have trouble accessing them online.
Thank you all for your ongoing support throughout this school year. I truly believe that Princess Margaret is doing wonderful things. While I am looking forward to a well-deserved rest over the summer, I am also excited to return in September to continue this important work with our incredible students and staff.
I will send one final update next week and then another email with information about the September start-up. As always, you may check our school and board websites for updates over the summer. Please note that I will be taking a break and will not be checking emails regularly during this time.
Important Announcement: Food Delivery Services Not Permitted
Effective Friday, June 19th, Princess Margaret Public School will no longer allow access to the building for food delivery services such as SkipTheDishes, Uber Eats, or any similar companies.
We have experienced a number of concerns with delivery services entering the school. It is important to recognize that these individuals are not known to us, and allowing unrestricted access to the building poses a safety risk. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. As you know, we have implemented a buzzer system and screen all individuals entering the school. Continuing to allow delivery personnel into the building is not consistent with these safety measures.
In the past, we have had delivery personnel wander through hallways, leave items unattended, or engage in disputes with staff when orders are unclear or unlabeled. For these reasons, we are no longer able to support this practice. Parents and caregivers are still welcome to drop off food for their children at the front office, provided that all items are clearly labeled and put on the desk underneath our tv. Your child should know that food is being dropped off for them. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please do not send orders, as the delivery service personnel will be told we do not accept deliveries and we will not allow them access to our building.

E-Scooters and E-Bikes Data: ⚠️ 🚑 What the Data Tells Us According to the Canadian Hospitals Injury Reporting and Prevention Program (CHIRPP) at SickKids Hospital, e-scooters are responsible for a high number of serious injuries. Emergency Department data shows: 🛴 85% of serious injuries from battery-powered mobility devices are related to e-scooters. 👦 Nearly half of all e-scooter injuries involved children aged 10–13. ♂️ 81% of injured riders were male. 🧠 36% of injuries were head injuries—and helmet use did not always prevent them. ⛑️ 56% of injured riders were not wearing a helmet. 🚑 31% of injuries involved multiple parts of the body, making them especially severe.
In the province of Ontario, Kick Back E-Scooters are permitted for people 16 and over regardless of where you are riding a Kick Back E-Scooter

To assist with access and support any technical challenges that families might experience, the UGDSB has created a support website for Parent ConnectED found here: UGDSB Report Card Support. This is also posted on our school website.
Within this website there is support on the following topics:
How to create a parent portal account
How to access report cards
A list of links to schools report card websites
The parent-teacher interview booking process
Information on 18+ students granting parental access
What to do if you forgot your password
