Good morning, Princess Margaret families,

I am pleased to share that our updated Bullying Prevention Plan and Safe, Equitable and Inclusive School Strategy is now complete and can be found on our school website: https://www.ugdsb.ca/o/pmps/page/resources

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our committee members (staff, students, parents, and community members) for their thoughtful work and commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, equitable, and inclusive school environment for all students.

Within the plan, you will see some encouraging data that reinforces that Princess Margaret is a safe place to learn and grow. Our school WHY survey was completed by 95+% of our students, 22 staff members, and 62 parents/guardians, and their feedback helped us gather this data and create this plan. Thank you to our families who completed the survey last year!

Some highlights from the survey include:

  • 98% of our students indicated that they feel safe at school.

  • 72% of students indicated that they told an adult when they experienced or witnessed bullying.

  • At the same time, 38% of students identified that they have experienced bullying at school or on the bus within the past year.

While there is much to celebrate, we also recognize that we have important work to do. Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, included, and supported at school. Our updated plan outlines the intentional steps and strategies we will take as a school community to continue strengthening student well-being, belonging, and safety.

Please take some time to review the attached plan. Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us make Princess Margaret a safe, caring, and inclusive place for every student.
