We hope you all had a wonderful family day long weekend!
As we look ahead to this week and month, we recognize important cultural observances celebrated by families in our community: Lunar New Year and Ramadan.
Lunar New Year is a time of renewal, family gatherings, and cultural traditions. We extend our warm wishes for happiness, prosperity, and good health to all who celebrate.
Ramadan will also begin soon, marking a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and generosity for Muslims around the world. We wish our students and families observing Ramadan a peaceful and meaningful month.
As always, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported. Families are welcome to reach out if their child requires any accommodations during these observances.
Black History Month: Honouring Stories, Strength, and Excellence
February is Black History Month, a time to recognize, honour, and celebrate the many contributions, histories, and achievements of Black Canadians and Black communities in Canada and around the world. Throughout the month, our school will be engaging students in learning that highlights:
The rich cultural heritage
of Black communities
Important historical figures and changemakers
Stories of resilience, creativity, leadership, and excellence
Contemporary voices
shaping our communities today
Our goal is to foster understanding, appreciation, and a sense of belonging for all students, while creating space for meaningful conversations and learning. We encourage families to continue this very important learning at home by exploring books, films, music, and community events that celebrate Black culture and history.
Together, we remain committed to building a school community where every student feels valued, respected and empowered. Please review with your children that any comments/actions that are harmful to another students’ identity/race/culture/religion/gender, result in consequences leading up to and including suspension and expulsion. We continue to creating a safe environment at RCPS and appreciate your support.
