We are sending you home some sweaty kiddos today.  We enjoyed the sunshine and had a lot of fun at our Terry Fox School Run today.  Thank you for sending in the donations.  I look forward to sharing the total with you soon.  Thanks to Mrs. Wheeler and Mme. Hill for organizing the day and for all the announcements leading up.

It was so lovely to see so many of our families at our Meet the Teacher Night.  The students were so excited to share their classrooms and to take you to the book fair.  A note from Ms. McLarnon that the book sale is on until Wednesday, so if your child missed out on getting a book there is still a chance.

We also wanted to send a big thank you to last year’s School Council who approved the purchase of our sensory floors.  The students are loving the actions as they move down the hall.  I also noticed some parents enjoying it last night too!  A reminder that our first School Council meeting is happening on Thursday, September 25th at 6:30pm in the Library.  All parents are welcome.  We will be having the elections for the 2025-2026 school year for the executive positions.  We hope you can join us.

This coming week we are excited to have our Junior and Intermediate soccer teams head off to the county meet.  The model for all elementary schools is about friendly competition and not worrying about the score, but the experience.  We are so grateful to the teachers who volunteer to coach, to convene and to ref these events.  We are also appreciative of our parents who come out to support our athletes. The Sports Council has asked all schools to send a reminder to parents that the goals of our sports events are for students to have fun and be part of a team, and ask that spectators remember that these events are possible only because of the volunteers who run them and to be respectful of their efforts.  Whether at school or at a sporting event, we want a respectful environment for all.

Your children might have let you know that we have been having a number of drills already this year.  We are required to have 3 fire drills in the Fall and Spring, 2 lockdown drills a year, a bomb threat drill and a tornado drill.  You may have noticed the light at the front of the building and the lights in the hallways.  This is part of the new lockdown system that has been installed in schools across the board. Drill month continues next week.
