We are now all settled into the classrooms we are going to be in for the remainder of the school year.  Clubs and teams are starting to get going.  This week we had tryouts for junior and intermediate soccer, cross country running and intermediate ultimate frisbee.  Students find out about all the wonderful happenings on our daily announcement slide deck.

A reminder of parents whose children are bussed to sign up for the “Bus Notifications” at https://stwdsts.ca/.  This will let you know when buses are running late and/or routes are cancelled in the winter months.  We know that there have been some frustrations as the company works to fine-tune routes and hire additional drivers.

School Council

On Thursday we had our first school council meeting of the year.  Congratulations to the following people on being elected to the executive:

Jennifer Horne/Lisa Lankoff - Co Chairs

Rathika Sitsabaiesan - Treasurer

Melissa Wood - Secretary

Plans are already underway for Winterfest, happening on December 12.  Many hands make light work - if you are able to volunteer a few hours of your time to support this wonderful event please reach out.

Meet the Teacher Night:

This year’s Meet the Teacher Night is happening this Thursday (September 24) from 5:30pm to 7pm.  Come and meet your child’s teacher, see their classroom and visit the Book Fair.  A reminder that is a short “hello” to your child’s teacher.  Out of respect for other parents who also want to “meet the teacher” we ask that if you would like to have a longer conversation with the teacher that you reach out via email/phone to set up a different time.  Hope to see you there!

Book Fair is Coming:

📚 It's that time again! The Scholastic Book Fair kicks off during our "Meet the Teacher" event.  Families are invited to visit the Library between 5:30 - 7:00pm to see the books, posters, and school tools that are available for purchase (debit, credit, cash accepted).

Whether you are shopping for your home collection or just coming by to enjoy the lively atmosphere, we would love to have you. A portion of the proceeds from the fair goes right back into funding books and exciting new materials for our Library & Makerspace. Come explore, share in the excitement, and help us celebrate a love of reading.

Dates: Thursday, September 24 to Wednesday, September 30 (open to students during recesses)

Terry Fox Run:

Next Friday at 1:30pm our school will be participating in the Terry Fox School Run. We are raising awareness and funds to support Cancer research, a disease that sadly has affected many of our Spencer families.  Our school fundraising goal is $900.   If you would to donate please send a Toonie/cash with your children or use this link  https://schools.terryfox.ca/134956 to donate online.

We are tracking donations on a big thermometer so the sooner they donate the better so kids can see the impact they are making.
