It was fantastic to see so many families at our Meet the Teacher Night last night.  I loved watching your children show you around their classroom and introduce you to their teacher.  There was definitely a lot of excitement in the building.

Today we are looking forward to participating in our school run for Terry Fox.  Students have been learning about the Marathon of Hope and how someone with an idea has made a huge impact on Cancer awareness and research.  We are running the last block today.

A reminder to families to send back to school the “School Verification Forms” that went home last week.  This is the information that we have in our system regarding contacts in case of an emergency.  Even if there are no changes please sign and return.

Here are some of the amazing things that happened this week: soccer, ultimate frisbee, dance team, cross country, Mrs Lowrie/Mrs. Hunter’s class trip to Island Lake, Recess Repair for grades 1-3, Chalk and Talk, snack bin deliveries, and more.  Students learn about all the extra curricular opportunities through our daily announcement slides.

Next week we will be acknowledging Truth and Reconciliation Week. Our Indigenous Program Lead has shared with teachers vetted resources that are age specific to build understanding around this importance of this week.  Thank you to Mrs. MacLaren for creating a front display for us.  On September 30th students are encouraged to “wear orange” to honour residential school survivors, remember the children who never came home and acknowledge the tragic impact of Canada’s residential school system.

Next week our Junior and Soccer teams are participating in the county tournament at Centennial Hylands in Shelburne.  We wish them the best of luck,
