Kids Help Phone Counsellor in the Classroom Program:
Next week the students in Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. Lowrie and the grade sixes from Mrs. Manzerolle’s classes will have a virtual presentation from Kids Help Phone. Kids Help Phone’s Counsellor in the Classroom Program promotes the discussion of mental health and well-being among young people. It’s available to students in Grades 4 through 12 across Canada. Classes that participate will learn about mental health, Kids Help Phone’s services and how / where to seek support.

The following classes will be having presentations starting the week of November 18th until the week of December 9th- Kuenzig, Curry, Mangos/Perrie and Sy/Scanlan(Grade 6's). The teachers will reach out when the dates and times are confirmed.
Kindergarten to Grade 8 Echoes of the Land Presentation - Alyssa Katrine, Metis Artist
On November 15th, "Echoes of the Land," a captivating assembly series with Alyssa Katrine and The North Sound, celebrating Indigenous stories and songs with be coming to Spencer Ave. Alyssa, a celebrated Red River Métis fiddler, and Forrest Eaglespeaker, a profound storyteller and musician from the Blackfoot community, merge their heritages to present a series focused on self-love, empowerment, and the deep connections with land and nature. They weave these themes into their music and narratives, highlighting real-life struggles and the joy of being alive. Through their performance, they aim to engage students with powerful messages about personal and cultural identity, grounded in the rich traditions of their ancestors. This immersive educational experience brings together music, poetry, and storytelling, reflecting the vibrant cultures of the Métis and Blackfoot peoples.
