There has been a lot of excitement in the school this past week. After weeks of auditioning the cast and crew of Willy Wonka Jr were revealed. The cast is looking forward to their first “table read” next week so that scripts can go home for the winter break.
The gym is busy each recess with junior and intermediate intramurals. The library is buzzing with the arrival of the Battle of Books and Forest of Reading books. Makerspace clubs, band and choir are in full swing. Students have a lot of options to fill their time at recess.
In our effort to give back and promote kindness, Spencer Ave is currently running a Food Drive in support of the Orangeville Food Bank. They have seen a 40% increase in the number of people using their services. Most needed items are: canned meat, canned pasta, Kraft Dinner, Sidekicks, shampoo, jam, baked beans, canned tomatoes, and ketchup. Our food drive runs until December 16th. We are also having a sock drive in support of “Socks for the Street.” This organization provides new socks to individuals experiencing homelessness. Thank you to families who have already donated to these two events.
A reminder that this round of food days (pizza, Pita Pit, Lunches Made Easy, Boston Pizza) is posted now on School Cash Online. The orders close on Sunday evening. Don’t miss out as there are no late orders.
We are eight days away from our amazing Winterfest Celebration. Come check out our vendor tables, silent auction, bake sale, craft room, junior vendors, cafe, games room and more. Wristbands sales on School Cash Online close today at midnight! They can also be purchased at the door. See you on Saturday, December 14 from 10am to 2pm (please note that the silent auction, raffles and joy jars close at 1:30pm.) Looking forward to a fun time for all!
The next two weeks are full of activities, both school wide and in classrooms, as we all get ready for the Winter Break!
