Brant Monday Communication – Sept 21

Dear Brant Ave families, 

It is the beginning of our first official full week at Brant Ave with all of our students in the building and we couldn’t be more excited! Thank you to everyone for making our start up a success. Now that we are settling into a routine it is important to remember that the protocols around masks and physical distancing are in place for the safety of all and it takes a full team effort to make it work. Thank you so much for the work you have put in to helping our students come to school prepared to be part of that team effort.

A few important items as we get close to the end of September.

#1 Virtual Brant School Council Meeting: We would like to WELCOME all parents and guardians to our 1st School Council meeting of 2020/2021, via Zoom. The date has tentatively been set for Tuesday, September 29th at 6:30 pm. This will be a formal meeting where elections will occur for Chair, Secretary and Finance. If you are interested in any of these positions, please join us. We will have lots to discuss, but we will try and keep it as short as possible. Stay tuned for a follow up email and post to for details.

#2 Parents currently may not enter the school. 

Due to Covid-19 parents and visitors are not permitted to enter school. Please wait outside and call the school at 519-824-2671 and press 0 to talk to the office. Please make arrangements in advance when possible to pick students up early.


#3 Parent Information: Monitoring and Managing COVID-19, this is an important reminder from Public Health about how we can all work together to help stop the spread. Click the link for more information:

#4 Masks, timing and social distancing on the tarmac: To help with physical distancing protocols before and after school, we are asking that all students and parents/guardians please wear a mask when they enter the school grounds (tarmac area at the back of the school). We also encourage students to not arrive on the school grounds before 8:40 am to help avoid unorganized large groupings. Parents/guardians we also need your help to please keep reminding your children about the importance of physical distancing. Now that we are at full student attendance we will have many people in this area and this will help protect everyone. 

If you are picking up students in Grade 1 – Grade 6 after school, please wait, physically distanced, beside the portable until the bell rings at 3:15. 

#5 Absent or Late? If you know that your child(ren) will be absent or late please call the school 519-824-2671. You can leave a message 24 hours a day. If you leave a message on our machine and you know that your child will be absent for longer than one day please leave those details as well so the office can be as accurate as possible. Thanks!

#6 Forms to be returned to school:  All students should have brought home a package of forms for parents to read. The following forms need to be updated/signed and returned ASAP to ensure all our information is up to date:

  • Student Verification V 18 (Green)
  • Consent to Share Personal Information (Salmon)
  • Educational Field Trips Parental Information/Consent Form (Blue)
