1. What is a Dual Credit Course?
A Dual Credit Course is a course offered through College which, when successfully completed, provides the student with a credit towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a College credit.
2. What is the purpose of Dual Credit Courses?
Dual Credit Courses are designed to assist students to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and/or who wish to try out an apprenticeship program or College once they complete high school.
3. What does it cost?
There are no costs for secondary school students attending a Dual Credit Course. Books and transportation are provided free of charge to all students attending regularly.
NOTE: OYAP Level 1 and CAPP (College Apprenticeship Preparation Program) students will need their own transportation to and from the College, but will be reimbursed for mileage expenses and receive a free parking pass.
4. Can anyone sign up for a dual credit course?
Dual Credit courses are not part of the regular secondary school curriculum. Your Dual Credit Contact can tell you what is available, what the requirements are, and can assist you to apply.
5. How do I apply? Who should I talk to?
Contact the Dual Credit Contact in your local school. Even if you are not currently enrolled, Guidance staff at your local school will assist you to reconnect with your educational goals.
6. How do I get there?
Transportation is free and is arranged by your local schools.

7. I’m concerned about leaving my home school to go to college as a high school student. Need I be?
Not at all! While DC courses are taught by college faculty, a secondary school teacher will be at the college to support you and help you with the transition to college. You will also have an opportunity to meet students from other Upper Grand schools, as well as students from our partner school boards.
8. What is the passing mark for a Dual Credit course?
The passing mark varies, depending on the College offering the course, and the Pathway you’ve chosen. See the individual program descriptions for the passing mark for each DC course.
9. I  have an IEP (Individualized Education Plan). Is there help at the College?
Yes, supports and accommodations are available at college. This will need to be discussed with your dual credit teacher as it may be a little different from high school. Please be sure to add any applicable information on the dual credit online application form relating to your IEP to help with this process.
