Inclement Weather for Bus Students  – get the app! Bus Planner Delay App

BusPlanner Delays App is now available. Get delay and cancellation notices on your phone (available on IOS and Android phones). Once downloaded and installed use the following Quick code : WDSTS

It is the parent’s responsibility to determine whether or not it is safe for his or her child to leave for school in inclement or severe weather.

When a bus does not travel a route in the morning due to fog, ice, or snow conditions, it will NOT travel that route in the afternoon.  When buses are cancelled but school is still open, if you choose to drive your bus student to school, you will also need to pick them up at the end of the day.

The STWDSTS website contains the most up-to-date information on school bus delays and cancellations. Cancellations will also be tweeted @stwdsts. An email will be sent to those subscribed to STWDSTS delays and cancellations.

STWDSTS will post information on bus cancellations on their website by 6:30 a.m. Information on school closures due to bus cancellations will also be posted to the STWDSTS website.

Library Learning Commons Update

Happy New Year from the Library Learning Commons! The new year is a wonderful time to try some new books: why not give a new author a read, learn about a new topic of interest, or discover a new fiction series? Check out a book written by Eric Walters so you can ask an inquiring question when he visits us on the 31st of January.

A new year brings new excitement to our library!

Our Forest of Reading program will begin soon.   We are just waiting for our copies of the books to arrive.  All students from Kindergarten – Grade 2 will participate in the Blue Spruce program during their weekly visits to the library. Grade 3 – 8 students have been invited to participate in an independent reading program based on their grade level (Silver Birch Express, Silver Birch, Yellow Cedar or Red Maple).

Students who are participating in the Forest of Reading programs are asked to please return books as soon as they have finished reading them so that other students have access to them too. We have multiple copies of each of the novels, but the program is very popular!. The books are also available through the Guelph Public Library and ebooks may be accessed through the SORA link on students’ UGCloud page. If families wish to read the books together (shared reading or read aloud), that is absolutely encouraged!

Nominated books are written by Canadian authors and have been added to our collection except for a few that did not comply with our school board policies.

Thank you for your continued support of our Library Learning Commons programs!
