Parking Lot Concerns

With the snow hills and a number of increased daily staff, our staff parking lot is regularly full.  There is no parking for parents in the staff parking lot for pick-ups or drop-offs of your child, unless you have a handicap parking pass.  It is a major safety risk to have moving vehicles where children and families are walking. Please also avoid driving in the front bus loop until after 8:55am.  Parents can park on Ptarmigan or on any side streets and walk your child to the school yard, or your child can cross at the crosswalk directly in front of the school.  Please remember to be respectful of our neighbours and adhere to all parking guidelines (i.e. not blocking driveways).  Thank you for taking an extra few minutes to keep everyone safe.

Term 1 Report Card Information

Term 1 Report Cards will be posted online on the Parent Portal on Feb 15th.  If your child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) it will come home in paper copy for Term 2.  Please see the attached letter regarding important changes that will impact how you read your child’s Language mark on their Report Card.

Library Learning Commons Update

On January 31st, all KHPS classes were treated to a special guest appearance by Author Eric Walters!  Our students were entertained and delighted with the special information that was shared about his published books and his writing process.  We are inspired to be great readers and writers in the years to come!  At the end of his visit, Mr. Walters told us how much he thoroughly enjoyed his day at Kortright Hills and was impressed by our students’ attentiveness and respect.  Way to go Cobras!

Dear Kortright Hills Public School Families,

We hope this message finds you well and that the month of February has kicked off on a fantastic note! We’re here with a slice of news that’s sure to tickle your taste buds and an invitation to join us for our upcoming School Council meeting.

  1. Pizza Extravaganza: Mark Your Calendars for Feb 6! 🍕

The anticipation is building! The pizza orders placed at the beginning of the year have now come to a delicious conclusion. But fret not, pizza lovers—we have exciting news! The orders for the second half of the year have been placed, and the heavenly aroma of freshly baked pizza will grace our school once again on Tuesday, February 6th.

If you’ve placed your order, thank you! Your pizza preferences are duly noted. However, if you haven’t continued your order (or if you made any modifications), we kindly ask that you communicate this to your student(s) and take appropriate action with their packed lunch on Tuesday, ensuring they are fueled for a day of learning and fun.

  1. Save the Date: Council Meeting on February 12th! 🗓️

The camaraderie continues! Our next School Council meeting is just around the corner on Monday, February 12th, at 6:30 pm in the school library. Everyone is welcome to join us for an evening of collaboration, conversation, and community spirit. Your presence adds a unique flavor to our discussions, and we’d love to have you there!

Whether you’re a regular attendee or considering joining for the first time, your insights and ideas are valued. Together, we can make a positive impact on the Kortright Hills Public School community.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you at the Council meeting on February 12th!

Warm regards, Kortright Hills School Council 🐍📚
