Solar Eclipse April 8th, 2024
Please see WDGPH’s eclipse webpage which is now live! Public Health has also prepared this Public Health Safety for Solar Eclipse (PDF) fact sheet for our school community in advance of April 8th.
Library Learning Commons Update
Forest of Reading programs will continue until late April.
Voting Day for Silver Birch Express, Silver Birch, Yellow Cedar, & Red Maple is Monday, April 22nd. Students who have participated in the program are invited to the library during 2nd Nutrition Break to vote and to celebrate with a special treat. Kindergarten to Grade 2 classes have been participating in the Blue Spruce program, and will vote and celebrate on Tuesday, April 23rd.
This year participating students are also invited on a field trip to The Bookshelf in Downtown Guelph on Friday, May 10th. This amazing event involves three different workshops, each with one or two Canadian authors! It is a perfect wrap-up for all our dedicated Forest of Reading participants. More information will be available soon.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be arriving on April 26th. The book fair is a fantastic fundraiser for the library. We earn up to 60% of all sales to purchase new books and resources!

🌷 Exciting Updates and Spring Fundraiser from KHPS School Council! 🌼
Dear Kortright Hills Public School Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you enjoying the blossoming season of spring! As we embrace the warmer weather and vibrant energy of this time of year, we have some important updates and exciting events to share with you:
- April School Council Meeting: Save the Date! 🗓️
Our next School Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 15th, in the school library. The meeting will commence at 6:30 pm, with a social meet and greet starting at 6:15 pm. We encourage all parents and caregivers to join us for an evening of discussion, collaboration, and community building. Your input and participation are invaluable to us!
- FUNDRAISER ALERT: Step into Spring with Safety in Mind! 🚑
We’re thrilled to announce our first aid kit fundraiser, designed to help you step into spring with safety at the forefront of your mind! Here’s how you can participate and make a difference:
Personal Orders: Add your personal order to the sheet, considering safety items and kits for your own home, car, cottage, travel, and more.
Spread the Word: Ask friends, family, colleagues, and others which items they do not have on hand for their own safety and have them add their orders to your tracking form. Collect payment from your supporters as you prefer (cash, EMT, cheque, etc., directly to you).
Place Your Order: Confirm your fundraiser order by placing one order via SchoolCashOnline for all items on your individual order form and make payment for the ‘Grand Total’ amount.
Order Deadline: Orders are to be placed on or before Sunday, April 7, 2024. No late orders can be accepted, so mark your calendars!
Distribution: Do not send the individual order form to the school; keep it so that you can distribute the orders to your supporters.
Pickup Details: Orders are expected to be available for pickup from KHPS in early May. Stay tuned to The Friday 5 emails and our Facebook page/group for details.
Let’s work together to make safety a priority this spring while supporting playground improvements at KHPS. Thank you for your participation and support!
- Family Movie Night: Scoop your tix by Wednesday 🎬
KHPS School Council is excited to again be hosting a KHPS Family Movie Night! Find full event details here.
Come out for a night of fun on Friday, April 5th. We will be showing DC League of Super Pets in the school gym and all KHPS families are invited! Bring your comfy clothes, sleeping bags, pillows, mats, chairs, and get ready for a fun night.
Admission is free to all KHPS families, but tickets must be ordered (at a $0 cost) on SchoolCashOnline to reserve your family’s space in the gym. Ticket requests are due before noon on Wednesday, April 3. Pre-orders for popcorn, drinks and pizza are also available on SchoolCashOnline. Please note that food orders are not mandatory as you may bring your own peanut and treenut-free food and drink if you prefer.
