School Reorganization

Posted September 15, 2021

Dear parents and guardians;

Each year, schools within the Upper Grand District School Board go through a staffing process that reflects changes in school populations from the previous Spring. Our school population is determined by who shows up to school in that first week of September. Some changes were expected, but others come as a surprise and we report the shift in our school numbers to our district staffing committee after the first day. Montgomery Village P.S. has been reorganized as many students joined our community and some left to other schools. Although the total number of students did not shift much, the ages of our incoming students pushed some of our classes over our Ministry Parameters while others fell well below with students leaving.

As a result of the changes at Montgomery Village, we will be moving a large number of students within the school to comply with our new organization. This means your son or daughter may be given a new class assignment on Thursday to start in their new class on Friday, Sept. 17th. Students will visit their new classrooms at the end of the day on Thursday so that they know where to go on Friday.

We will be reaching out to parents via email or phone on Thursday, Sept. 16th to make families aware of changes.

Our staff has worked hard to move our students and maintain a balance within each of our classrooms.

Thank you for working with your child through a time of change. Our goal at MVPS is to help students to be flexible, open to change, and resilient. We appreciate your support in helping us with this and sending a similar message to your children.
