FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL INFORMATION

Students in Grade 1 to 6, please meet on the tarmac at the back of the school at 8:45 am. Brant Ave Staff will be wearing bright vests and name tags so they are easy to find. As we tried for the first time last year, caregivers will be sent an email the night before the first day of school with the name of their child’s teacher to help ease those jitters and have a smooth morning.

JOIN THE SCHOOL COUNCIL - EVERYONE WELCOME!

We are a group of parents and caregivers who work with the admin and school staff to support our staff, to advocate for our students, and to enhance our children’s school experience. All are welcome! Join us virtually or in the school library on Tuesday, September 15th at 6:30 pm.

Every day counts: Arrive on time, stay all day!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

All students, Kindergarten through Grade 6, should have the following labelled items:

  • backpack for personal belongings

  • lunch pail and reusable food containers

  • reusable water bottle

  • indoor shoes suitable for gym class

  • outdoor footwear (shoes, rainboots, snow boots) depending on the season

You can connect with Nicki at the Friendship Place to fill out an application for the Hope House Backpack Program; email: brant.ave.ng@gmail.com  cell: (519) 993-6191

As well, you will soon see back-to-school ads and receive flyers filled with school supplies. The following information may be helpful for you to make decisions when that time comes. We provide all students with supplies such as pencils, erasers, paper and notebooks.  It is not necessary for parents to purchase these. Other supplies such as scissors, glue sticks, rulers, markers and crayons are in all classrooms to be shared among students.

Some children prefer to have their own supplies to keep in their desks. If you choose to purchase items for your child, we recommend the following:

Kindergarten: all supplies are shared; donations welcome

Primary: pencil case, pencils, erasers, glue stick, scissors, washable markers, crayons, inexpensive wired headphones or earbuds

Junior: pencil case, pencils, erasers, glue stick, scissors, pencil crayons, washable markers, highlighters, blue/black/red pens, 3-hole punched lined paper, calculator, ruler, protractor, inexpensive wired headphones/earbuds

BEST WISHES

Congratulations on an impactful career go to Ms. Simon who is retiring this June. We are saying good-bye to Mr. Bradey and Ms. Allen-Powlesland, who are moving to other school communities in September, and Noon Hour Supervisor Becky, who is heading off to new adventures. Also a fond farewell to our long-term occasional staff Mr. Hepburn, Ms. Stephen, Ms. Moore, Ms. Tuckwell, Ms. Desouza, Ms. Snider, and Ms. Caldwell who are finishing their time at Brant Avenue at the end of June. A special thank you to Ms. Willoughby who is returning to her Vice-Principal role at John F. Ross, and to all the retired administrators who supported Ms. Jones during her concussion recovery this year.
