Independent Learning
Learners who wish to pursue credits independently may want to consider taking a correspondence course. Continuing Education offers Gr 11 and Gr. 12 correspondence courses across different areas of study.

Lesson Submission & Feedback
Students may submit a maximum of two (2) lessons at one time.
Students must wait for written feedback (up to three business days) on previously submitted lessons before submitting additional lessons.
Lesson feedback is provided within three (3) business days, excluding weekends, statutory holidays, and periods when staff are unavailable.
Course Materials & Progression
Students will receive access to the first half of the course upon enrolment.
Access to the second half of the course will be granted once the mid-term test has been written and successfully passed.
Course expectations
Students are expected to follow all procedures outlined in the “Welcome to Correspondence” handout (provided upon registration)
Assessments
Successful course completion requires a passing grade on both the mid-term and final tests.
If a student is unsuccessful on either test, they are required to meet with the Principal (or designate) to develop a plan for next steps.
All tests must be written in person.
Students are responsible for booking their own test appointments at a UGDSB Continuing Education office.
Timelines
The minimum course duration is eight (8) weeks, with no exceptions.
Courses must be completed within six (6) months of the start date.
Extensions may be granted only with the approval of the Principal.
Academic Integrity & Use of AI
All submitted work must be the student’s own original work.
The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) or other unauthorized tools to generate or obtain responses to Key Questions is not permitted.
Prerequisites
If prerequisite requirements are not met, an Education Plan will be developed by a Guidance Counsellor and must be approved by the Principal prior to enrolment.
