Hello Arbour Vista Families,
With fall now in full swing, October marks a busy and energizing time in our school year. It’s a month packed with learning, activities, and events that keep our school community engaged. Thank you to everyone who attended our Open House last Thursday. It was great to see so many families come out to support our students and celebrate the work they’ve done so far this year.

Identity Based harm and /or Bullying
This button is located on our school's website and the main UGDSB webpage. On our website it is located below the picture of our school where it says “Report Harm/Bullying”.
The Report Identity-Based Harm and/or Bullying tool gives students and parents 24/7 access to reporting. You do not have to identify yourself – just your school – and your message gets sent directly to the school principal for follow-up.

Test Your Smoke Alarm Today
In 2024 the city of Guelph had 7 fire fatalities and in 2023, fire fatalities reached a record high in Ontario - the highest we'd seen in 20 years. In too many of these cases, it was determined there were no working smoke alarms in the home.
The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) set out to create a province-wide campaign to raise awareness about the importance of working smoke alarms. The result? Test Your Smoke Alarm Day and the "Saved By The Beep!" public education campaign every September 28. For the past two years, people across Ontario have shown up and supported this initiative in-person, pledged to test their smoke alarms every month, and shared this important message on social media using the hashtag #SavedByTheBeep.
Sunday September 28th was Test Your Smoke Alarm Day but it’s not too late to test them now. The Guelph Fire Department has assigned everyone some homework. Please test your smoke alarms by pushing the button on your alarms, and make sure you have at least one alarm on every level of your home. Remember, smoke alarms save lives.
