Summer Mental Health Supports

Mental health supports are available to students over the summer. If your child or youth needs mental health support over the summer, please call and leave a voice mail at 519-822-4420 ext 588. We have Mental Health Clinicians available and voicemails will be checked regularly from July 2 to August 30. Please note that this is not a crisis line. Learn more on the board website. 

 

Digital Report Cards and ConnectED for Parents

Parents and guardians will need to create an account with the Upper Grand before they can download their child’s report card. To create a Parent Portal account, please visit this page and click on the link for your child’s school.

Parents/guardians can create their account provided they have an email on record with the school. Once your account is activated, you will see each of your children listed. Elementary report cards will be available for downloading beginning on June 23rd. Secondary report cards will be available for downloading beginning the week of July 5th

WDG Public Health to host Parent Information Session on COVID-19 vaccines

On June 14, 2021, at 7pm, Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, the Associate Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, will be offering a presentation for youth and their parents/caregivers to learn more about WDGPH’s COVID-19 vaccination program and answer parent questions.

Supports for staff and students following horrific violence targeting Muslim community

The Upper Grand District School Board would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Muslim community following the horrific violence in London, Ontario, which killed four family members and sent another family member to hospital with serious injuries. Officials are reporting that this is an apparent hate crime and that the victims were targeted because of their Muslim faith.

Province announces that Ontario schools will remain in remote learning this school year

On June 2, 2021, the provincial government announced that Ontario schools will remain in remote learning for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. This means that all UGDSB students will continue learning remotely for the rest of this school year, with the exception of those students currently attending specialized class placements in person.

UGDSB flags to be lowered in honour of 215 children whose lives were taken at former residential school

UGDSB approves new Indigenous Education policy

This policy states that the Upper Grand District School Board acknowledges that Indigenous Peoples are distinct from other equity seeking groups in that they are self-determining nations with inherent rights, laws, and institutions. Indigenous rights are distinct. It is the goal of the UGDSB to ensure that Indigenous staff and students are not deprived of their rights, and are provided with a learning and working environment that is free from racism and discrimination of any kind.

Clarification regarding remote learning program for the 2021-22 school year

Please note that the Upper Grand District School Board remote learning program for the 2021-22 school year will NOT be a “hybrid model.” Students who register for remote school will be placed in the standalone elementary or secondary remote schools, where classes/courses are staffed by dedicated remote learning teachers.

Draft school year calendars for 2021-22 approved

At the Board Meeting held on April 27, 2021, trustees approved draft school year calendars for the 2021-2022 school year for elementary and secondary schools in the Upper Grand DSB. The draft calendars will now be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.
