Hello Arbour Vista families!
Welcome to the June edition of our school newsletter!
Faith Days During June
Acknowledging and celebrating days of faith is an important aspect of many religious traditions and cultures. Different faiths have their own holy days, festivals, and observances that hold significance for their followers. During the month of June, please see the days that will be acknowledged and celebrated by some members of our school community. Please note that there is diversity within faith communities and that no one list can represent all faith traditions or observances.
Date | Celebration | Faith/Religion |
June 1-3 | *Shavuot | Judaism |
June 6-10 | Eid-al-Adha | Islam |
June 20 | Summer Solstice, Litha, | Indigenous, Wicca |
*Please note that we acknowledge that June is Pride Month, Italian Heritage Month, National Indigenous History Month, Portuguese Heritage Month, World Environment Day, World Day Against Child labour, National Indigenous Peoples Day, National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism, Canadian Multiculturalism Day and other significant dates during the Month of June. These are not included on the chart above, as they are not days of faith/religious holidays.
Family Fun Fair
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the school council and all the parent volunteers for their tremendous effort in organizing the Family Fun Fair. The students had an amazing time, and it was wonderful to see so many families out enjoying each other's company. Events like this remind us of the incredible community spirit that defines our school. Without the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, such a fantastic event would not have been possible. Thank you for making it a memorable day for everyone.
Vice-Principal at Arbour Vista and Jean Little
Mme Languedoc will be continuing her journey at Arbour Vista next year in a half-time role.
In addition, she’ll also be bringing her talents and enthusiasm to Jean Little P.S., where she will serve as Vice Principal on a half-time basis also. We’re confident she’ll make a meaningful impact in both roles.

Pride Month
June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the diverse tapestry of identities within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. As we celebrate Pride Month, we stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in recognition of their resilience, courage, and contributions to our society. This month is a time to honor the progress made toward equality and to reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and accepting world for all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. Let us continue to amplify 2SLGBTQIA+ voices, advocate for equal rights, and celebrate the diverse tapestry of human experiences. Happy Pride Month!
GR 1 & 2 Presentation
On June 2, Grade 1 and 2 students will take part in a special presentation led by our Human Rights, Equity, and Inclusion Lead. The topic will be "Kindness", where students will learn and explore how our words and actions can affect others.
As part of the discussion, we will introduce some of the different forms of discrimination and talk about how we can use inclusive and respectful language to make sure everyone feels safe and valued at school.
Access Digital Report Cards for Parents/Guardians
The Upper Grand District School Board has an online parent portal called Parent ConnectED. Parents/guardians are able to access their children's report cards digitally through this portal. To assist with access and support any technical challenges that families might experience, the UGDSB has created a support website for Parent ConnectED found here: UGDSB Report Card Support.
Within this website there is support on the following topics:
How to create a parent portal account
How to access report cards
A list of links to schools report card websites
The parent-teacher interview booking process
Information on 18+ students granting parental access
What to do if you forgot your password
