pcps jan 18

Dear PCPS Families,

It is safe to say that we are in the middle of a snowy and wintery month of January!  We have been continuing to monitor the parking lot routines and thank families for making walking a priority.  If you need to drive, please remember that if you want to walk your child to their teacher, please park in the back or in a parking space.

We are pleased to share that a Family Day Food Drive will be taking place at our school, organized and led by Ms. Mall’s Grade 3 class.  Check out the article on the UGDSB website:https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/13444

This initiative was inspired by a student idea and reflects our school community’s values of kindness, empathy, and giving back. The goal is to collect food donations to support our local food bank, which is located close to the school. If possible, students will have the opportunity to walk the collected items to the food bank, helping them make a meaningful connection between their efforts and community impact.  Thank you for your generosity and support in helping our students make a difference.

📅 Donation dates: January 12 to February 12

Winter Recesses can be an exciting time to play outside and get fresh air.  Staff are continuing to coach and remind students on recess expectations which include:

  • Following staff direction on where it is safe to play (e.g. When the snow hills are too high, students are asked to stay off them, when areas are icy, students will be directed to safer areas of play or kept inside for indoor recess)

  • Play Safely (No Rough Play, No Throwing Snow etc.)

  • Dress appropriately

  • Intermediate students are expected to go outside unless they are participating in a supervised extra curricular activity (No roaming the halls)

No Bus Days: We Are Open! A reminder that on no bus days, we are here for learning. A very small percentage of our students are bussed, so teachers carry on with a normal learning day. Our school is open for all who can safely make it here. If your child does not ride the bus and will not be attending school, you need to call in their absence please. This helps Ms. Marnie with her safe arrival procedures in a timely manner. Thank you for your help with this.
