Out of Area and Out of District Attendance

Out of Area (OOA) and Out of District (OOD) registration procedures for English-language track schools are governed in accordance with Policy 521 Admission and Registration.

Process for OOA/OOD attendance:

  • The board will maintain a list of schools that are either ‘open’ or ‘closed’ to new OOA/OOD registrations.

    • Schools are reviewed each year and the list is updated and posted prior to the December break.

  • Only schools designated as ‘open’ for the coming school year can accept new OOA/OOD registrations.

  • New OOA/OOD registrations can only be submitted during a limited period of time during the month of January.

    • New OOA/OOD registrations must be completed by the last Friday in January.

  • Students registering at a school that is OOA or OOD may remain at the OOA/OOD school until completion of grades at that school, rather than having to reapply every year.

  • Transportation is NOT provided for OOA or OOD students.

We encourage students to attend their designated home school but do understand that there may be situations that lead to a request for students to attend a different school.
