The gymnasium at Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest was an explosion of colour on Thursday, April 23, 2026 as four colour teams comprised of approximately 40 students and staff battled it out in a variety of creative and wacky competitions in the school's annual Gym Riot. The Red Team was led by teacher Lauren Lupo-Flewelling, the Yellow Team was led by teacher Nichola McEwan, the Green Team was led by teacher Stephanie West, and the Blue Team was led by teacher Justin Gibson. Organized by the school's Athletic Council and Physical Education teachers, Bridget Kosempel and Matt McFarlane, the Gym Riot saw students and staff competing in teams in a variety of physically active games. Colour teams dodged balls, carried one another in bedsheets, popped balloons, ran obstacle courses, covered their faces in whipped cream and popcorn, and boosted school spirit and camaraderie through a variety of unusual competitions. Over 160 other students and staff bought tickets to watch the spectacle and cheered on their favourite colour teams. Winning the overall Gym Riot this year was the Blue Team, while additional results of the event included fun for all students involved, a renewed sense of school spirit and belonging, and a sticky gymnasium floor.
