From the Principal’s Desk – November 13, 2023

Posted November 13, 2023

Hello Arbour Vista families,

I hope you had a nice weekend and had the opportunity to  enjoy the sunshine on Sunday.

Remembrance Day

On November 10th, we held a special Remembrance Day assembly to honor the sacrifices made for our freedom and peace. During the assembly we observed a minute of silence, providing a moment for reflection and gratitude. We remembered the significance of November 11th and why it’s important to pay our respects to those who have served in the armed forces.

Please look to your child’s Google Classroom to see a flyer that shows what each item looks like. If you would like to see what size fits your child best you are welcome to come to the office and look through some of the samples.

Fall Progress Reports

The fall Progress Reports get uploaded to the parent portal on November 14th and provide students and parents with early and specific feedback on the progress made in the first two months of the school year. After these progress reports go home, there will be an opportunity for parent/teacher conferences. This provides you with an opportunity to find out how your child is progressing and work with the teacher to support their areas for growth.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

PA Day: November 24th, 2023

There is a board wide professional activity day on November 24th, for teachers and parents to meet regarding student progress.

Teachers may choose to stay on Thursday November 23rd, to facilitate additional interviews.  Your child’s teacher will reach out to you to share their plan.

Interview sign up will take place on-line and can be done in person or via Google Meet. More information is coming soon!

WHY Survey

If your child is in grade 4-8 they will have received a letter regarding the completion of the WHY survey.

All students in Grades 4 through 12 will be asked to complete this survey. Completion of the survey is not required for your child’s schooling and it won’t affect their grades. The WHY survey will be completed in class between November 13 and November 24th.

For additional information,or  to decline from having your child complete the survey please see the link below.  As mentioned this information has already been shared earlier last week.
