Hello Arbour Vista Families,

Here at Arbour Vista we have some fun activities and clubs on the go. A big thank you to our teachers who volunteer to run and supervise events, clubs and teams during their break.  Our School Council has also been busy organizing some special events to engage the community, such as our upcoming Primary Math Night and Professor Jamz Kick off Assembly. If you would like to be part of these committees, come and join our Council Meeting on Tuesday evening. The link and agenda are posted on our website under the “School Council” heading.

Born in 2020?

If you have a child or know someone who has a child born in 2020, they are eligible to register for Junior Kindergarten! Junior Kindergarten is the only entry point for French Immersion, so don’t delay. Get those registrations complete. 

Primary Math Night

Mark your calendars! Do you have a student in Grades JK- Gr 3? Join us for our Family Math Night on February 12, between 6:30-7:30. Explore different math centers and practise using money to purchase items in our Marketplace. Can’t wait to see you there.

EQAO Webinars & Learning Modules

In the coming months, EQAO will continue to host a series of webinars and learning modules to support parents and guardians.

A Deeper Look at EQAO Mathematics Questions 

EQAO has a new math resource containing released questions from the primary, junior and Grade 9 assessments. Attendees will learn how these questions can be used together with EQAO strands and skills data to support students. EQAO staff will be available to answer your questions. Registration

Learning Module: EQAO Collaborative Data Analysis, 2023–2024

Register for this self-paced learning module and learn how to use EQAO’s new interactive data reporting tool to find information about student success and attitudes, and the contexts in which students live and learn. Registration 

New Resources Available on EQAO’s Website
Various products available on EQAO’s website have been developed to inform educators as well as parents and guardians about EQAO’s assessment program. Please see below, a list of recently posted resources accessible to the education community and the public.

  • Resource: Released Questions: Learn about the definitions EQAO uses for the categories of knowledge and skills, and find mathematics questions from the primary- and junior-division and Grade 9 assessments by overall expectation.
  • Infographic: Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics Framework: Dive into our newly released one-pager, which offers a condensed overview of key information about the Framework and the assessment in general.

Human Trafficking Webinar:

Please see the attached flyer with information on how to attend a free webinar on Human Trafficking, how to support your children/youth and how to connect with supports.  This will include a panel discussion with police, children’s mental health and child protection services.

Prayer Space Available

We would like to remind families that a prayer space is available for use during the school day. If your child would like access to the space, please ensure they communicate with their teacher so that we can ensure proper supervision.
