Good Morning Arbour Vista families,

Welcome to the May edition of our school newsletter!

Faith Days During May

Acknowledging and celebrating days of faith is an important aspect of many religious traditions and cultures. Different faiths have their own holy days, festivals, and observances that hold significance for their followers. During the month of May, please see the days that will be acknowledged and celebrated by some members of our school community. Please note that there is diversity within faith communities and that no one list can represent all faith traditions or observances.

Date Celebration Faith/Religion
May 2 Twelfth Day of Ridván Bahá’í
May 3 Holy Friday Christianity (Orthodox)
May 5 Orthodox Easter Christianity (Orthodox)
May 23 Declaration of the Báb Bahá’í

*Please note that we acknowledge Asian Heritage Month, Canadian Jewish Heritage Month, Polish Heritage Month, Better Speech and Hearing Month, Red Dress Day Honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, Mental Health Week, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, National AccessAbility Week and other significant dates during the Month of May. Junior Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten Team is preparing for an Orientation Event on May 27th,from 5:30 to 6:30 pm for our new Junior Kindergarten parents.

If you know of any families in our area that are still looking to register their Junior Kindergarten aged child for French Immersion, please direct them to contact the office as soon as possible.

Volunteers in the School

Volunteers significantly enhance the quality of our school experiences, yet prioritizing safety remains paramount. Therefore, we require all volunteers to undergo police reference checks to ensure the well-being of our students. Their presence is instrumental in maintaining appropriate student-to-supervisor ratios and facilitating the smooth operation of school excursions. As we anticipate upcoming activities that may necessitate volunteer assistance, now is the perfect time to make sure your volunteer check is up to date.

Please look to the school calendar for upcoming dates and events.
