FROM THE OFFICE…

Posted May 5, 2019

Happy Spring to everyone!  The warm, bright sunshine filled days have finally arrived.  CMES is celebrating Education Week May 6-10, 2019.

We had many special events happening over the month of April.  Our students in grade 5-8 took part in an assembly hosted by former CFL player, Orlando Bowen, who shared his story and encouraged our students to give back to our community by getting involved in “The One Voice One Team” initiatives.  We celebrated “World Autism Day” and showed our support by wearing blue.  CMES School Council ran a successful “Stem Night”.  Thank you to our community for supporting the event.  Our CMES Skills Canada Team did a great job at the competition.  Congratulations go out to the CMES Junior Team who took home a silver place finish.  Our grade 8s attended “Career Pathways”.  Our Intermediate Boys and Girls’ Cobras did a great job representing our school at their various pretournament games.  Great skill and sportsmanship was displayed by our athletes.  We had a number of classes participating in Scientists in the School Program.  We celebrated International Day of Pink.  Our students and staff participated in a variety of Earth Day initiatives.  Our wonderful CMES Intermediate Band and CMES Recorder Club under the direction of Mr. McIntyre performed at the Orangeville Dufferin Music Festival.  Our Band has been working hard at building their skills in playing music and have participated in other local performances as well.  Thank you to our amazing staff for offering a variety of extra-curricular activities to our students and for encouraging great Cobra spirit!

This month, we are looking forward to Empowerment Day, Jump Rope for Heart with an 80s theme, our CMES Talent Show grades 4-8, Zumba, CMES Chess Tournament, class trips, Canada’s Wonderland Band Performance, and Bike Rodeo.

Students in grades 3 and 6 will be writing EQAO this month.  These provincial assessments, which are based on the expectations set out in the Ontario Curriculum give our students an opportunity to demonstrate what they know, as well as providing rich data for drafting our Credit Meadows School Improvement Plan.

We are looking forward to a positive and productive month ahead.  If you have any questions, please contact us at the school.  On behalf of our CMES Staff, thank you for your support of our wonderful students and school.

Sincerely,

Ms. Lagundzija-deFreitas (P) & Ms. Federico (VP)
