June 2019 SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING – EPS

Tuesday June 11th, 2019 7pm

Mission Statement: “In a caring climate of honesty, respect and enthusiasm, Eramosa Public School teaches and facilitates the development of independent thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure that every student reaches his/her potential to be a responsible, flexible and lifelong learner.”

  1. Welcome and Introductions: Stephanie Moddison, Heidi Muller, Jacqueline Nyman, Chad Guyitt, Chris Williston, Maria Rossi, Frances Paulssen, Christa Ormiston, Amy Price, Jenny Broadfoot, Heather Weingarter

 

  1. Principal’s Report – New Principal for September. Some background on her experience.

 

Upcoming Events at school :

Grad Monday June 24 – more information coming soon from Mr. Ellis, Volunteer Breakfast 8 am June 26, Talent Show after breakfast June 26,

Play Day, Report Cards June 27

 

Outgoing and new staff:

Darlene Shaw to retire.

Shayla Hingston to move to another school.

Erin Hartmans to move to another school.

Two new Kindergarten team teachers Kendall Warmington, Danielle Bauer

 

Tree situation: Board has had arbourists in,  will manage trees that need to be removed.

 

  1. Teacher Appreciation Lunch: Tuesday June 18. Potluck lunch. Google Doc sign up. 11:15am delivery for 11:40 lunch

 

  1. Fundraising Committee: productive meeting – tentative plan for next year – Sept 19 BBQ booked, Halloween Dance, Thursday Oct 24, tables booked for Santa’s Breakfast, last Saturday in November 30th. Poinsettias as well – suppliers TBD. Fundraising at Jester’s – percentage of things bought go to a pot that teachers can then use, Elmira Chicken again as well. Flowers potentially for spring, possible another Paint Nite. Possible Games Nite, Possible Pasta Night

Parent Question: How can we message to the community about our community events and fundraisers. Are you a graduating parent? If you want to stay in touch with Eramosa for future fundraising…..

 

Event and Fundraising Plan for next year: School BBQ cash online orders need to be approved for Simone to put them up first week back. $2.00 hotdog and drink, $3.00 burger and drink.

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report: have some leftover money in ‘general fundraising’. $900 to teacher reimbursement for classroom supplies purchased throughout the year (teachers to provide receipts).

Remaining allocated:

$ 1000.00 to the playground fund

$ 1260.00 to classroom activities to hopefully cover next year’s scientist in the classroom or other activities

$ 222.13 to the school supplies – this in combination with the funds currently in this fund should cover the agendas for next year
