Safety in the Parking Lot: An Updated Plan and Request
Hello everyone.
We have developed a plan to try to make the dropping off and picking up of children safer. This is thanks to the input of parents and staff. There have been a few things lately that cause us concern.
Before I go over the plan, please remember the following:
- There are no staff on duty until 8:10 AM. Please wait until that time to leave your children.
- Please walk your children across the parking lot to ensure they get to the playground safely.
- Please do not walk between buses. Drivers may not see you or your children. Rather, walk around the end of the line of buses.
Thanks for this. These three things will help a great deal.
Now, for the plan:
- When entering the driveway, please follow the route around in the same direction as the buses go. Follow the arrows.
- Then turn left and pull through so that your vehicle points towards the Fifth Line.
- After escorting your children to safety, please drive out to the road.
I have attached a map that shows the route suggested. Marked with “S’ are the spaces allocated to staff members. We have purposefully located them to one end of the lot to keep the central portion of the lot free for parents and guardians. It also minimizes the need to back up, especially when there are people and other vehicles moving around.
