Hallowe’en

Posted October 21, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians;

Here we are approaching the end of October already. Thanksgiving has passed and I know that Hallowe’en is on many children’s and adults’ minds.

As you can imagine, this has been a topic of much discussion with our staff. Certainly, if times were a little less unusual, there might have been a different result to our chats. However, there have been some decisions made. I have listed them below:

A decision has been maintained system-wide by UGDSB that Hallowe’en parades will not occur this year. Even though rules have been somewhat relaxed, there is still concern about cohorts travelling into other children’s spaces.

Given the difficulty of ensuring health and safety, costumes will not be worn that day. Instead, we will celebrate a ‘Black and Orange Day’ on Thursday, October 28, and will have class-based activities for children to enjoy.

Again, following the protocols established by our Board and Public Health, we will be unable to accept treats from home. However, we as a school will be providing prepackaged treats (perhaps somewhat nutritious …) and will distribute those to your children.

We believe we will be able to have a most enjoyable day where children and adults will enjoy each other’s company to celebrate what makes our school a special place in which to play and learn.

Best regards,

Paul Tribe, Principal
