An Excellent Pride Flag Ceremony

Posted June 1, 2022

Today, our Rainbow Club hosted Eramosa School’s first Pride Flag Ceremony.  The whole school population gathered at the front of the school and took part in it.  As the Rainbow Club said in their introduction, our doors say ‘welcome’ in many different languages, because here at Eramosa we want to welcome all who come here, and all of who they are.’

Students learned about the new Progress Flag where black and brown stripes have been added to the original rainbow of colours, recognizing the spectrum of orientations as well as the significant contributions of the BIPOC Community (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour).  It is a reminder to everyone that people of all skin colours and backgrounds are included in Pride.

Flying this flag means that Eramosa Public School, as well as the entire Upper Grand District School Board is committed to supporting and celebrating the 2SLGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month and throughout the year.

At Eramosa PS we accept and celebrate our community and take care of one another.

Below are some photos of this event.

Best regards,

Paul Tribe, Principal
