February School Council Playgroung Planning Committee Meeting

The School Council would like to thank you for your input in the survey last Fall!  Your input has helped to direct our efforts with respect to the upgrades to consider for our outdoor play areas.  If you would like to see the results of the survey, please follow this link .  The results have been summarized in the minutes from the last School Council meeting.  The results indicated that the majority of parents and students would prefer ‘out of the box’ ideas for the school to pursue a less expensive, non-traditional approach to upgrade the current play areas.
The School Council would like to ask you for your input again!  In the survey, some examples were given to let you know what we were thinking when we said ‘out of the box’ ideas.  These were as follows: a gaga ball pit, games or mazes painted on the existing asphalt, shade structure, etc.  It is our opportunity to continue with this process and ask you to put forward any suggestions you and/or your student(s) may have in mind.  You are welcome to email your suggestions to the School Council email [email protected] prior to February 15, 2024.  Alternatively, we would like to extend an invitation to you to join our Playground Planning Subcommittee virtual meeting  on February 15, 2024 at 7:00pm to participate in the planning process.  Link to join: https://meet.google.com/yim-cwdu-vob.

7:00pm - Introduction – summarize the survey results and scope of our work.
7:05pm - Policy Review – Outdoor Play Places, Purchasing, Greening Requests
7:15pm - Review of emailed suggestions and open floor to any additional suggestions
7:35pm - Summary of items that may be purchased this year for example, painting of existing asphalt and small equipment such as balls, items that are temporary which can be placed and then stored such as spike ball nets.
7:50pm - Review of reserve fund requirements
7:55pm – Next steps
