Updates for the week of September 21st-Lanyards and Busing

Posted September 25, 2020

This week we have purchased safety “break-away” lanyards for all students and staff in order to make it easier for everyone to have masks with them at all times.  They are colour-coded by class so we can also easily recognize each class during recess and ensure all students are in their designated areas outside.   The expectation is that students will attach their masks to the lanyards as soon as they get into class in the morning, so they can easily be put on and taken off when needed, especially when 2m distancing is not maintained. They will then remove the lanyard at the end of the day, and store it in an individualized space (i.e. desk or bin) allocated by the teacher in each class. Students will still have many opportunities to be mask-free when outside for outdoor learning and recess when they are socially distancing. We continue to focus on all safety protocols, as directed by Public Health, to keep everyone in our John Black school community safe.
We have also been working to ensure that updated bus seating plans have been put in place and are adhered to in conjunction with Student Transportation and Public Health protocols. Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we have worked through these new circumstances this week with all students back in school. By all accounts, we have had an awesome week back, and are grateful for the wonderful weather too!
