Welcome Back 

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back to school on Monday, February 8th!

Before Coming to School

COVID-19 Screening:

  • All parents must screen their children every day before leaving home for symptoms of COVID-19.  If there are symptoms, children need to stay home from school.  If COVID-19 is suspected, testing is recommended.

Access to the School

Only essential visitors are permitted inside the school (e.g., maintenance personnel). 

No visitors or parents are allowed in the school.

At entry and dismissal times, parents are to remain outside the school and school play yard while adhering to physical distancing protocols.  Wearing a mask is recommended.

What to Bring to School

Please keep your child’s personal items to a minimum!  To support a safe and comfortable environment, students are asked to bring the following items clearly labelled with the student’s name: 

  • Backpack or tote bag for personal belongings
  • Face masks – keep more than one in their backpack 
  • Personal water bottle 
  • Seasonal outdoor wear PLUS a pair of indoor running shoes.   
  • Your child’s teacher will let you know if they require anything else.

Daily Procedures

At Home in the morning: self-screening tool
Morning Drop Off:

  • Students are asked to arrive as close to 8:45am as possible. When students arrive at school they are to line up in their assigned class lines. 
  • Students are discouraged from congregating in groups before or after school and should maintain a two-metre distance from others while walking to and from school. 
  • We ask that each household limit themselves to 1 parent/guardian accompanying children. This is to aid in physical distancing for the safety of our students, staff and community.
  • Students must wear their face mask once on school property.
  • Classes will enter one at a time, ensuring appropriate spacing of students.  Students will sanitize hands when entering.
Recess Information: 

  • Wearing masks outdoors is now mandatory  
  • Before leaving classrooms, students will sanitize their hands
  • Classes will move through halls, one class at a time, and in the same direction to assigned exit
  • Classes continue to have designated areas on the yard to play
  • Students are not to bring toys or sports equipment from home
  • Entering the building procedures will be followed at the end of recess for re-entry
  • Upon re-entry from recess, students will sanitize their hands
Lunch Procedures:

  • Students will continue to eat in their classrooms and at their assigned desk/work space
  • Recyclables and unfinished food items will be sent home with students.  
  • Students will put masks back on once they’ve finished eating 
  • Students will sanitize hands before and after eating
End of Day Procedures:

  • Students will exit the school using the same doors they use for entering.  
  • Parents/guardians will wait outside of the school yard for their child/ren and adhere to physical distancing protocols.  Wearing a mask is recommended.
Loaned Technology during Remote Learning:

If you are a family who has a device(s) that was loaned out for remote learning over the past several weeks, please return it to your child’s teacher by Monday Feb 8th so that we can have it cleaned and placed back in classrooms.  Please return the cord at this time as well. Thank you in advance!

Other Important Information

Students who are ill: If your child is ill, or exhibits any signs and symptoms of COVID-19, please keep your child at home. If your child becomes ill during the day, you will be called to pick them up immediately.

Picking up a student: If you need to pick up your child early, please call the school office. We will have your child waiting for you at the front doors. Please call the school, the number is above the front door.

 

Communication with the School

  • All communication will continue, using the phone or other electronic means 
  • Messages between parents/guardians and staff can be via Google classroom, UG Messenger, email or phone 
  • When your child/ren is/are going to be absent from school, please leave a message in our absences mailbox 519 837 9582.  Please remember that if your child is unwell, to keep them at home and let us know on our attendance line.
