EJPS Week at a Glance (Jan 15-19)

Chers parents,

Happy New Year and welcome back! We’ve had a great transition back from the holidays as our students continue with their learning at a strong pace. As the weeks go by, more and more school activities will be organized and we will share information in a timely fashion. This is a good time for reminders about some of the supports in place to keep students and staff healthy throughout the cold and flu season:

Key Protective Measures

  • Continue to follow key strategies such as frequent hand washing, respiratory etiquette and making the most of our outdoor spaces for learning continue to contribute to the health and well-being of students and staff.
  • Classes in the UGDSB will continue to have a standalone HEPA filter unit with more than 2500 of these units deployed across the system.  Please ensure these continue to be on and functioning in classrooms and working spaces.
  • Hand Sanitizer – Continue to make hand sanitizer available for students, staff and visitors.  Additional supplies remain available for ordering should your site be running low.
  • In addition  to these measures, the UGDSB will continue to support students, staff and visitors to our schools and respect their individual choices about masking.

The UGDSB will continue to follow the direction of WDGPH for appropriate responses to illnesses in our community. Please visit their website for the most current information about respiratory illnesses including COVID-19 on their updated site:

In addition, families may be directed to the UGDSB’s website for illness prevention strategies: https://www.ugdsb.ca/blog/management-of-illness-in-schools-key-protective-measures/ and to follow our Daily School Absence Reporting Dashboard to see trends in schools across our district:  https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/daily-school-absence-reporting/

Thanks for all your efforts to reduce illness in our communities and keep students and staff healthy!

In other news and as we can all see, we have mountains of snow all throughout the region. Old Man Winter doesn’t hold back! With that said, it is a good idea to prepare for some of the challenges that winter brings us. A reminder that, as with every winter, inclement weather conditions may result in bus cancellations and/or school closures. Decisions on buses and school operations due to inclement weather are made as soon as key information is available and no later than 6:30am the morning of. To check the status of school buses each morning visit www.stwdsts.ca, and to check the status of school closures visit www.ugdsb.ca. Some notes from the office:

All Lost & Found items will be picked up, washed and donated next Friday, Jan 19th. Please take some time to look through what is here. There is LOTS of stuff. Anything with a label will be put in students’ backpacks.

Pizza & Subway orders have been posted for Feb & Mar 2024 (up to March Break).

Here is a note from Mme Mcleod:

I’ve noticed that I have made a mistake and included an extra day for Pizza and Subway orders for the first week in January (Subway, Tuesday Jan 2,, 2024 & Pizza Jan 4, 2023). We do not have school during the 1st week of January. Oops!!!! I will add the orders from those two days to the first week in February.

To clarify the dated for January’s School Cash Subway & PIzza orders:

Subway – Jan 9,16,23,30 & Feb. 6, 2024

Pizza – Jan 11, 18, 25 & Feb. 1, 2024

I’m sorry for the mix-up. Please contact the office if you have any questions.

Merci. Mme. Mcleod

** Note: If there is a No Bus Day on a Tuesday, Subway orders will be cancelled for that day and served the next day, Wednesday. If there is a No Bus Day on a Thursday, Pizza orders will be cancelled for the day and served the following Monday.
