Welcome Back!

Posted September 2, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back!!!! We are so excited for the upcoming 2022/2023 school year. Staff are busy getting their classrooms ready and preparing for a year full of learning, fun, and engagement for our students.

Although many of the COVID restrictions have been removed, we will continue to practice effective hand hygiene and the running of the HEPA filters in each of our classrooms. We will also respect the individual choice to wear a mask while at school.

On the first day of school your child will receive paper copies of information about School Cash Online, Digital Tools and Student Personal Information. All forms need to be reviewed, signed, and returned to school. Completing these tasks in a timely manner will really help us to update our records regarding walking trips, freedom of information and contact information.

Later today you will receive an email with the tentative class and teacher name for your child. Please see the map posted at the bottom of this message to see where your child’s class will line up. The process of creating class lists is complicated and is done with the best interest of children in mind. We hope the first day of school arrival will be a calm and efficient process when it is time to line up and meet with the classroom teacher.

Although class lists are finalized and we hope they can remain, there is always a possibility of reorganization. With so many students moving in and out of school, we are always reviewing class numbers and revising school organizations to match and to stay within Ministry of Education and UGDSB parameters. We will update you if this intervention is necessary at Ken Danby PS this year.

We are looking forward to our Open House-Meet the Staff Night on Sept. 22nd at 6:00-7:00 pm. Further details will be provided closer to the date.

We also want to include some information regarding our Terry Fox walk this year:

In 1980, Terry Fox set the bar high for himself when he started his Marathon of Hope, saying, “Nobody is ever going to call me a quitter.” Our school is proudly taking part in this year’s Terry Fox School Walk to continue Terry’s legacy. Please support our school’s fundraising efforts to raise much-needed funds for cancer research.  The walk will be on Friday September 23rd, more information will follow soon.

As always, please feel free to reach out to the school if you have any questions or concerns. Looking forward to Tuesday!!!!
