Does your child have any potentially life-threatening medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, anaphylaxis, epilepsy and other conditions that pose a serious medical risk? Plans of Care recently went home with students - please reach out if you need one and didn’t get one.
Subway Orders - Reminder that Subway orders are available through Lunchbox on School Cash Online. The deadline each week is Sunday at 12:00 noon for delivery on the following Wednesday at 2nd nutrition break.
Pizza Orders are DUE ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27 at midnight on School Cash Online. Late order will not be accepted.
For your information, kids can’t run businesses at school - so don’t send money with your child to purchase toys, cards or ‘services’ like hair styling. If your child is coming home from school with cash, reinforce that we don’t give or take money from other people without adults knowing about it.

We hope you are interested in volunteering at Brant Avenue Public School. We love when our students’ families are able to get involved – and your children do, too! If you’re interested in coming on a field trip or riding the bus with a sports team, please complete this process soon.
Here’s what needs to be completed prior to volunteering at Brant Avenue Public School:

Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
OR a Vulnerable Sector Screening depending on the volunteer role
Applying for a Criminal Record Check or a Vulnerable Sector Screening is easy; there is a fee of $25 that the school can reimburse with a receipt! Ask Kym in the office for your personalized letter. Then you can apply online through the Guelph Police site https://www.guelphpolice.ca/request-for-information/police-record-checks/
Note: If you already have a record check you have completed for another organization (e.g., minor sports, work) and it is dated within the past six months, then you can submit that one to the school instead.
Once you have the completed Vulnerable Sector Screening document, please bring it into the school office or email it to brantave.ps@ugdsb.on.ca. We will then add this information to our central volunteer binder. You are only required to complete the forms once for the year and criminal record checks are good for four years. In years when you do not complete a criminal record check you will be asked to sign an offense declaration form in lieu of having a new Criminal Record Check completed.
We are incredibly grateful for our many volunteers. We appreciate the extra work that this will take; however, the safety of our students is our utmost priority. Should you require further information or assistance with the application please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Our School Council is looking for donations for our fundraising book sale this November! We are accepting donations of new or used books and puzzles for any age and any topic. Donations can be dropped off at the office. More information to come and thank you for your support!

What a wonderful first week of school. The children have been so welcoming to our new students and staff. We hear so many ‘hellos!’ and ‘good mornings’ and give and receive lots of high-fives. Brant Avenue PS has a great community - we’re so glad you’re here!
Next week we will be practicing all our safety drills for the year. Secure, stable footwear is important to help prevent slips and ankle twists. Please make sure your child has indoor shoes suitable for the gym (e.g., running shoes, please not crocs or slippers). If you are in need of financial support to purchase new shoes, please call Ms. Drinkwater in the office.
SUPERVISION
Our yard supervision begins at 8:40 AM. Please do not send your child to school prior to that. The best time to arrive is 8:45. Students have done a great job being on time this week - keep it up!
