As Black History Month comes to a close, the focus turns to action. Learning and reflection are most powerful when they lead to meaningful change, both in our schools and in our broader communities.

Action can take many forms. It might mean amplifying student voice, continuing conversations about equity and inclusion, or making intentional choices that challenge bias and promote fairness. It can also include seeking out resources, deepening understanding, and committing to practices that support dignity, respect, and belonging for all learners.

While Black History Month is recognized each February, the responsibility to honour Black experiences and address inequities does not end when the month does. By carrying learning forward and taking purposeful action throughout the year, we strengthen our collective commitment to inclusive education and help ensure that schools remain places where every student feels valued, empowered, and supported.
